David Camps Johnson turns five

Chasing bubbles on the porch
David turns five on December 7th.

He wanted everyone in his French pre school class to come to his birthday, all 22 of them and then 10 other children he had met in parks or at the skating rink.

They all said yes. This made his mother nervous for she invited fewer than 30 people to her wedding. David can't see why being more social, isn't better than being less social.

Here he is at  just four and a half,  happily chasing bubbles on the porch of his home.

His party was held in a community centre in Salmon Arm -- a party where there was a lego centre, a dress-up centre, cupcakes, juice and a Star Wars figure who appeared live, appropriately costumed and who played games and sang songs.  She did it with those who weren't interested in running like crazy around the gym or playing with the gym equipment.

Bonnie is hoping that next year's party can be held in the summer -- easier to have 30 people from Annis Bay than 30 from Salmon Arm / Sicamous, she imagines.
Husking Corn

I can still remember those lazy, hazy days of summer when the kids had to do all of the work and the adults just rested.

Those were the good days.

I hope they return.

  1. ...the corn shucking photo is great! I remember how much those kids complained before settling down to the task (which then became a site of fun). like so much of life. ;-)

  2. I remember those kids always being mad that they could not stay up for what they thought were the adult treats. Then when they grew up, they were still looking for the adult treats. Where did those adult treats go?
