It never rains but it pours ...or is that snows?

the falling fence
Admittedly, we had a bit of a rough end to 2011... the Christmas vacation went a bit sideways, and so we seem to have spent much of January working on the details of an insurance claim.

We just keep comforting ourselves by saying that our luck will surely turn.

Or so we hope.

Some of last year's luck, however, seems to be following us into the new year.

So I guess it was not all that much of a shock when we came home to discover that a third of the back fence had fallen down.

And the phone call from the cleaning woman reporting that there was a stream of water leaking from the back of the toilet, ... well ...; what to do other than shrug? (...and place a bucket to catch the drips, and make a call to the landlord)  sigh.

Well.... both are scheduled for repair on Monday.

The Merit Card

Duncan explaining the merit system to Steve

A bit of a pain, but other good things in life seem to also be in the mix.  So, for example, Duncan came home with a merit book from school.

And we headed off to the Strand on Saturday night to see "Masterclass".  It is a play about one of the Masterclasses given at the Julliard School of Music in NewYork by Maria Callas.

I really loved it... a great play partly about the life of Maria Callas, but also about performers in general, what it costs to be a performer, and a life in art.

There is a great video about the play featuring Tyne Daly (of Cagney and Lacey fame) if you click here.

You can also see the theatre were were in... second last row in the stalls!

The snow coming down...

And as to the question, does it snow in London?  Yes.... and it started right as we were on our way to the theatre!

Look!

Our backyard last night.

Kiwi was delighted to explore the snow this morning!

a bit cold on the paws?
