Scout Camp or Opera

Francesca da Rimini

Rebecca says she would choose opera over scout camp, hands down.  So here are some operas (and ballets) coming up in the next month at a theatre near you.

March 16
Francesca da Rimini reviewed in the New York Times

March 23
Maria Stuarda reviewed in the New York Times.

A person just might want to go to this opera after reading in the review "Ms. DiDonato is simply magnificent, singing with plush richness and acting beauty. At a few moments, from the collective sounds of the subdued chorus and orchestra, a pianissimo high note, almost inaudible, emerged from Ms. DiDonato’s voice, slowly blooming in sound and throbbing richness."

March 31
The Bolshoi Ballet dances Esmeralda.
 Theatre Jones Review of Esmeralda.

Cineplex
Esmeralda tells the story of the hunchbacked Quasimodo who is hopelessly in love with the gypsy girl Esmeralda, who, in turn, loves Captain Phoebus. Frollo is also infatuated with Esmeralda and stabs Phoebus out of jealousy. Esmeralda is then accused of Phoebus's murder and is sentence to dealth. But before it is to late for Esmerellda, Frollo’s crime is exposed and Esmerellda is saved.

And that is it for the month.  Now it is your choice.  Scout Camp or Opera.
